Coach Randy Huff attended Thornton High School before attending the University of Northern Colorado where he graduated with a Kinesiology and PE K-12 degree.  He then went to the University of Phoenix where he received his Master’s Degree in Education.

Coach Huff began his coaching career at Platte Valley High in Colorado in 1989 as a Football and Track & Field coach.  In 1993 he moved to Utah and coached all Middle School sports and high school Football at Ogden High.  While at Ogden, in 1997, their Quarterback, Blake Moore, was named the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award winner.  In 1998, Coach left Ogden to coach Football and Track & Field at Cottonwood High.  In 1999, Coach Huff returned to his own high school state and coached Football and Women’s Basketball at La Junta High.

Ponderosa was lucky to obtain Coach Huff in 2001, where he remains.  Coach Huff’s record at Ponderosa has been outstanding.  Since coming to Ponderosa, Coach has helped coach numerous All-American and All-State athletes.  Five players have been named All-American since Coach Huff joined the program:  Anest, Major, Ekhoff, Fox, and Power.

In 2007, Coach Huff was honored to be invited to coach the 2008 inaugural Under Armour All-America Game.

Coach is the proud father of three wonderfully successful and loving children:  Braden, Abbey, and Emily.

Coach Huff was inducted to the Ponderosa High School Hall of Fame in 2022.
